Quanpuxia Science Tour Route

The geological, natural and human attractions distributed on this route mainly include scenic monuments, Chaoping sedimentary sequences, plume interlayer, oolitic tuffs, Barrier Valley, Peacock Spring, trilobite fossils, giant wave marks, and Yuntai Heavenly Waterfall.

1、Tide ping sedimentary sequence

It is a typical sedimentary sequence of the Lower Cambrian Man Tou Formation. The lithology is purple-red mud shale interbedded with gray muddy dolomite and oolitic tuff. It develops tidal composite laminations, plume interlayer, wave laminations and sedimentary structures such as worm traces, submerged cavities and dry fractures.

2、Shuangxiufeng

Shuangxiufeng, also known as Heavenly Descent Peak, is located on top of the collapsed rock pile under the Heavenly Waterfall, and the lithology is the dolomite of the Sanshanzi Group (Fengshan Group) of the Upper Cambrian System. It was formed by the overall collapse of the cliff wall, preserving the original laminae.

3、Peacock Spring

It is a karst spring, which is a natural outcrop of karst groundwater and is located on top of the wall of the "U" shaped cliff in the Spring Falls Gorge. After flowing out of the ground, due to the change of environment and the escape of CO2, the calcium carbonate in the water precipitates at the mouth of the spring, forming the Quanhua body, which hangs high above the wall. The shape of the spring body is very similar to a peacock opening its screen, so it is named Peacock Spring for its mood.

4、Whispering Springs

Located below the Peacock Spring and above the narrow valley, the water source is mainly provided by the Peacock Spring. The ten thousand silver strands flowing down from the valley wall fall silently into the secluded pool, forming a contrast with the roaring sound of the heavenly waterfall, constituting a kind of mood of "the big strings are noisy and the small strings are whispering".

5、Secluded Pool

It is located under the wave mark stone ping at the Heavenly Waterfall, a narrow valley formed by the flowing water, 3-15 meters wide, more than a hundred meters long and several dozen meters high, with a pool at the bottom of the valley. Boating is possible in the pool. It is a waterway leading to the Heavenly Waterfall, and it is called the Pool of Seclusion for its meaning of seeking seclusion.

6、Large stromatolite

It is a flat rock wall with an area of about 300 square meters hanging above the wall of the "U" cliff wall of Lao Tan Gou. The dark layer formed by blue-green algae and the bright layer formed by blue-green algae are very clear, and according to the morphology of the algae layer, it should be LLH-S type, which is a shielded area with mud ping environment on the tide and weak water activity.
