The rocks composed of Giant Buddha are layered limestone in Ordovician. The formation was closely related with mountain orogeny in Himalayas and intense corrosion. It looks very like a Buddha, and there are stone inscriptions at mid-waist of Buddha. The stone inscriptions have an area of about 2 m2 and have 428 characteristics. It is cultural relics under significant protection due to the important roles to the research of history in North Wei Dynasty.
