Yuntaishan Global Geopark Carries Out Geological Science Popularization Activities in Universities

In the afternoon of November 8, hundreds of students gathered in the academic lecture hall of Henan University of Technology to enjoy the world of geology and humanities together with a brilliant expert on the podium.

The academic report titled "Exploring the Geopark Around Us, Wandering the World of Geology and Humanities - Traveling Ten Thousand Miles and Reading Ten Thousand Books" was jointly organized by the Yuntaishan Global Geopark and Henan University of Technology, inviting Zhang Zhonghui, a famous expert in geopark construction and a professor-level senior engineer, to carry out geological science popularization activities with college students as the main audience. In this activity, Professor Zhang Zhonghui used lively language to tell the students what is a geopark, what a geopark contains, how to care for a geopark, how to build and manage our home, and the current situation of geoparks in China. Taking Yuntaishan Global Geopark as an example, he introduced the basic information, geological features, geological relics and geological landscape of Yuntaishan Global Geopark to the students in detail. The whole presentation was interesting and fascinating, not only popularized the geological knowledge to the college students, but also planted the seed of protecting geological relics in their hearts and enhanced their awareness of protecting geological environment in their future work and life.

Taking this popularization activity as an opportunity, Yuntaishan Global Geopark will continue to expand the ways and means of geological science popularization and further promote the work of geopark science popularization.
