On September 12, the Yuntai Mountain World Geopark signed a sister park agreement with the Untek Mountain World Geopark in South Korea and the Tabas World Geopark in Iran, officially establishing a partnership. The signing of the sister park agreement has effectively established a platform for exchanging and cooperating between the two parks, and will carry out comprehensive cooperation in areas such as exchange and learning, park protection and management, planning and construction, scientific research and popular science, geological heritage protection, publicity and marketing, tourism promotion, information construction, and sustainable development.

The Deputy Mayor of Jiaozuo City, Zong Jiazhen, the Party Group Secretary and Director of the Forestry Bureau of Jiaozuo City, Wang Lili, the Deputy Director of the Yuntaishan Scenic and Historic Area Administration, Xue Ailing, the Joint Director of the Unhengshan World Geopark in Korea, Professor Xu Min, the Director of the Tabas World Geopark in Iran, Professor Vishal Yahya Heibani, and relevant leaders and staff attended the signing ceremony.

It is known that Mudeungsan Global Geopark, located in Gwangju City and Jeollanam-do, South Korea, at an elevation of 1,186.8 meters, includes the counties of Tanyang and Hwasun. The top of the mountain features a natural monument, Wonyeongsan Columnar Jointed Strata, which offers a unique view. Its geological heritage includes large polygonal jointed rhyolite columns that record at least three stages of Cretaceous volcanic activity, extensive glacial landforms, unusual microclimate environments, dinosaur footprints, and other various geological and geomorphological features.

Mudeungsan Global Geopark

It is known that Tabas Global Geopark is located in South Khorasan Province, Iran, spanning an area of 22,771 square kilometers. This desert has been hailed by many learned scholars as "Iran's geological paradise." Here, one can trace the evolution of the Earth from the earliest stages of the Precambrian era (4.6 billion years ago) to the early Cretaceous period (145 million years ago), without any interruption. The geopark is home to Iran's largest wildlife reserve, Namadan Wildlife Reserve, which covers an area of 1.5 million hectares and is the most important habitat for Asian leopards. The region serves as a vital thoroughfare connecting Iran's south, west, east, and northeast, and its priceless natural and cultural heritage attracts eco-tourists from all over the world.

Tabas Global Geopark

As one of the first global geoparks in the world and one of the first national 5A-level scenic spots, Yuntaishan Global Geopark has always attached importance to exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign geoparks. This time, it will become a sister park with Mudeungsan Global Geopark in South Korea and Tabas Global Geopark in Iran, and the two sides will jointly discuss the construction of geopark through in-depth exchanges and cooperation, and jointly promote the high-quality development of the global geopark cause.
